Dear Ms Rowling,

Thank you, THANK YOU for Harry Potter.  And not just for the last book (which I read--nay, devoured--in about 10 hours) but for bringing such a wonderful imaginative work into my life.  Your books have become part of who I am, your characters like old familiar friends.  Thank you, also, for Jim Dale, the reader of the HP series on tape...I have listened to them so many times, and am certain that it is Jim that makes the reading so extraordinary.  Sam will get into the car and ask to listen to Harry Potter, but the best part is that he says it in a british accent: "mom, we listen to harry pot-tah?" 

I can't wait for him to be older, and to be able to dive head first into the brilliant world you created for us...one book at a time.

I should try the audio books. I could put them on my ipod.
