It seems to have arrived this week. A little summer too!
I thought Wednesday was great--warm enough for just a vest outside. Little did I know what the rest of the week was going to look like...
Rebecca came out on Wednesday night ( I am loving having her here for a few days every week) and Thursday was so beautiful. We brought up all the riding toys from the basement, and spent most of the afternoon outside. I handed her the box of sidewalk chalk and....well, she chalked up a couple of masterpieces, as you'll see. I guess that's what happens when you ask a true artist to draw on the sidewalks with the kids!
Friday was an even better day, temps reaching almost 80 degrees here in Providence! Not only were we outside, but it was HOT. And we were in short sleeves. Gotta get some new sunscreen for the kids....
And today was SPECTACULAR. Shorts and T-shirts, frozen go-gurts outside, flip flops and crocs for the kids. When I got Jane dressed in her overall shorts, she said, "MOM! You forgot my pants!" It took her a few minutes to understand the concept of shorts. I kept telling her they were short pants. And then, of course, when Sam is getting dressed, he says, "mom? Can I wear short pants too? I love short pants." Alright, people, let's just call them shorts, OKAY???
The other benefit to LOTS of outside play? EXHAUSTED KIDS. They are barely hangin on at this moment. Sounds like I am scrapping tonight!
Have a bunch of pictures to share....enjoy!
Sam has a dinosaur excavating kit. (Nope, not kidding here.) It may be the best thing he got for Christmas. It has all kinds of dino skeletons to bury, and brushes and sifters to perform the excavations. Sam LOVES this game. He says, "Can I bury these bones and be an archaeologist?" You betcha, babe.
From Thursday with Auntie Becky...
Sam's prize chalk art...it is (CLEARLY) a ten-legged triceratops. And he's mad.
I say, "Beck, draw a balloon." This is what she gives me. Yes, those are portraits of the kids.
THIS is the best. Rebecca's version of Jane blowing bubbles. It is SO good, the kids LOVE looking at it. I found myself going outside to look at it too. Without the kids. GOD, I hope it never rains.
And a few from yesterday...
Happy weekend....

Insane drawings!

Wonderful just to see the kids outside again. Sandbox is the best and drawings are beautiful, Beck. Ah, a spring afternoon with 4 kids fighting over 9 ride on vehicles!!! Bamp

The sidewalk art is amazing. I've forgotten how much I miss "Sidewalk Sam" art in Boston until I saw Becky's drawings. How great for the kids to have both Aunt's active in their lives and to have your sister back with regular visits...
Love the dinosaur excavation kit.
