Our sweet baby girl turned 4 today. It was, without question, the happiest I have seen her in..well, maybe ever. I have lots of photos to post, including all of Christmas too (!!) but had to get this little video posted before the 29th was over...I hope you get to the end...the second song is worth sticking around for!
We started the celebration today with a breakfast plate surrounded by presents and a tiara front and center. OF COURSE, our traditional Tom T Hall's "your birthday is" was blasted and we danced around the kitchen...can't forget that, our most important birthday family standard! The princess fleece throw was a big hit, as was the bag filled with headbands, barrettes, and other jewelry that 4 year olds dig (read: plastic and rainbow and sparkly). We all gathered around the computer to watch the movie below, and Jane would cry out, "look at me! I am growing!!" I get weepy every time I watch it, from her first day on earth when we marveled at those cheeks, to the sassy thing we see before us today. It is utterly remarkable.
We piled into the car and took her for a surprise trip to the American Girl store in Natick, where she got to choose her own doll and two outfits. Lunch and ice cream in the food court, and we were back on our way home. The mall was PACKED, and Sam and Jane (and Abigail) were absolutely WONDERFULLY behaved. Sam never asked for anything, helped Jane carry her bag, volunteered to push Abigail in the stroller. Jane was CONVINCED that all of the decorations in the mall, and in individual stores, were all put up JUST FOR HER BIRTHDAY. I didn't have the heart to remind her about Christmas...she was just so tickled every time she saw some new elaborate display.
We came home and got right to preparing the Birthday Girl's dinner of choice. Pancakes and broccoli. Not. Even. Kidding. Cupcakes and a little sing song, and a movie of her choice, and she went to bed the happiest 4 year old in the world. Perfect.
I know I gush about the kids all the time, but we are so wonderfully blessed with these two. Sam made us a family, and Jane completed it. They fill me up and make me crazy, and I would never trade one minute of this beautiful chaos.
Happy birthday to our little lady, who fills our life with love and laughter...
Just watched the video and Janie Girl is absolutely amazing. You and TK are blessed to have such a beautiful, funny & loving daughter. You are right she completes your family. She adds the right amount of girly to Sam's boy. She will hang with Sam and turn around and grab her Barbie's without missing a beat. Great Job Sarah!
Happy Birthday Janie!

Beautiful....both Jane and the video! She is a little living doll and that last photo of her in the snow is THE MOST AMAZING...perfection. You should be very proud of your darling baby girl. Nice work, friend! Happy Birthday Janie!

Don't know what happened to my comment, but, again, this was wonderful.
Thanks for the walk through memory lane. The old fashioned baby books just don't measure up to this. Happy Birthday, Janie.
